It's been an exciting time since the world premiere of STUNG at 2015's Tribeca Film Festival. We all got to go to New York for the festival (yay!) and had pretty much the most perfect trip anyone could ask for to that amazing city. No seriously, it was actually weird just how much NY turned it on for that trip. Like it was creepily flirting with us. Stop being so desperate New York, it's a total turn off. But I digress...

The next stop for STUNG was the FANTASPOA film festival in Porto Alegre, Brazil. This time we didn't get to go (boo!) except for our wise and humble director Benni Diez. All is forgiven however, because STUNG only went on to win BEST FEATURE FILM 2015! Do people still say "booyah!" ? (no, I'm really asking)

When it comes to niche-ey genre things, I'm more of a sci-fi guy myself. But it's just a different flavour of nerd, and in my nerdiness I know what it means for a film to win the hearts of a voting panel at a festival dedicated to a specific genre of film. We genre nerds can be a notoriously difficult bunch to please, so it's a double yay when you get a thumbs up from that crowd. Cos it's a tough crowd! Big german sausage-sized kongratulätions to Herr Direktor Benni Diez - you worked like a crazy bastard on this labour of love so yeah, you deserve it!

In other STUNG news, my co-composer David Menke and I got a great mention for the music in a recent review in Scream Horror magazine which went something like this:

What makes for an even more engrossing experience is Antonio Gambale and David Menke’s acutely articulate score which hits all the right notes and creates just the right atmosphere at just the right times; it’s like Peter and the Wolf for the new generation.

Thanks! It's always a surprise when a reviewer even notices the music in a film, and an even nicer one when they like it.

And last but definitely not least... in the lead up to STUNG's general theatrical release in the United States, our trailer is now up on the Apple Trailers site. Somehow, it suddenly feels like it's a real movie now! If you're in the states, look out for it from July 3rd. And if you're even slightly spheksophobic (scared of wasps, it's a real word I just looked it up), then either don't see it or I dunno, do see it? As part of some kind of therapy maybe? That could work.
