It looks like more congratulations are in order for this month too! This time, it's none other than Pierre Adenot, the wonderful composer for Christophe Gans' 2014 version of BEAUTY & THE BEAST.
This film was the first occasion I had to work with Pierre, having been briefly introduced to him in the summer just prior to him beginning work on the film by agent Marie Sabbah. His being based in Lyon made for what we thought would be an interesting logistical challenge in working together in terms of long-distance project sharing and so on. But actually, Pierre has become such a dear friend and a pleasure to work with that in the end it was just more annoying that we weren't closer by to be able to crack jokes in person!
This is a fabulous nomination for Pierre and a great honour to be shortlisted by the SACEM (the french music royalties collection body) for his score. Not least of which to be selected in the same round as Alexandre Desplat's Oscar-winning score for The Grand Budapest Hotel.
This film was a lot of hard work, since nothing about it was on anything but the grandest scale. Epic writing, epic orchestra at Abbey Road, epic lack of sleep.
Really pleased to be able to congratulate Pierre on this well-deserved nomination. Since Belle et la Bête I've been lucky enough to work on several other projects on his team and here's to many more!
