Some exciting news this month: The advertising spot CARTIER: Shape your Time has just taken home a Bronze Lion for music in the Craft category at the Cannes Lions!
Directed by Bruno Aveillan, this visually stunning film was truly an exercise in close-knit collaboration between talented artists across Europe. Working closely with composer Pierre Adenot (based in Lyon, France) under the music supervision of Emmanuel Rambaldi (here in Paris), David Menke and I developed an electronic / orchestral hybrid arrangement of Pierre's original music working in Nathaniel Méchaly's NX Studios. A short Eurostar trip later, and the final music score was mixed at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London by Nick Wollage.
It was a great challenge but also great fun to bring rich electronic energy to Pierre's sophisticated music. It's also no mean feat to do justice to visuals of this high a standard - the music had to be every bit as sumptuous and epic as the breathtaking visual choreography. It's nice to see the work receive some recognition, congratulations to the team all round!
Shape your Time has been a hugely popular spot for Cartier. To date it has clocked up just short of 25 million views on YouTube. Goes without saying that I'm thrilled to have been on board for this lovely piece of work.
